If Society Is Happy, We Are All Brainwashed

A small town girl, only seventeen years old, is standing in front of her mirror. Her long, black, wavy hair falls perfectly down her cheeks caressing her protruding collarbones, continuing down her bony spine and ends at a waist she does not have. Her collarbones symbolize her victory, the mirror is a plain reflection of the young woman she is today and the shadow is someone she used to be. She is insecure and never speaks her mind; afraid of how others will response to whatever thought come out from her mouth. This girl, named Tanya, lives a secret life on the internet, she has a second place to where she escapes to more often. Her second home is a website called ********.com; it is a safe harbor where she can be herself and not pretend, where people support her decision to be anorexic, as if it is a healthy and good way of life. Here she can find a supportive family. Her role model is Tyra Banks and all Tanya wants is to look like her, or any other skinny model. To know how this came to be, where and why it started is impossible, but every day, every hour, every minute, and everywhere we look, we can see the change in society and we as human beings, let our insecurities take over and fall for society's new ideal in our never ending attempts to "fit in".

Why not simply embrace who you are and the way you look and take each day as a gift, everyone is unique and amazing exactly as they are!

Peace and Love
I believe in you!
